Ole Miss just lost in overtime to Vanderbilt because the refs decided that they liked Vanderbilt better.
Ole Miss Receiver A.J. Brown caught a touchdown on 3rd and 6 in overtime to make the game 35-36 Vanderbilt. With an extra point Ole Miss would force second overtime. Instead, the referees decided to review and overturn and obvious touchdown forcing a 4th and 6.
Here is what happened on the play.
(Unfortunately, I don’t have the video)
A.J. Brown jumped up for a high pass in the endzone, caught it, and hauled into his right hand as he hit the ground. After Brown clearly had control of the football and had both feet on the ground, a Vanderbilt corner who had been covering him knocked the ball out. The ruling on the field was a touchdown. To overturn a call, you have to have indisputable video evidence. Despite the fact that they had indisputable video evidence that Brown DID catch the football, the refs overturned the ruling.
This is all I have to say.
Football games are supposed to be decided by skill, coaching, the attitude the teams have, and all that type of stuff. THEY ARE NOT supposed to be decided by the opinion of a group that looks like a bunch of really weird looking zebras who are getting yelled at by at least 70,000 fans (probably more around 100,000 fans) while they are reviewing the play. I’m tired of the refs deciding who wins.
