The New England Patriots play the New Orleans Saints this week. Surprisingly, both teams are 0-1. However, both teams are super powerful.
The Saints will play the Patriots at home for the first time since 2009. The Saints won that game 38-17. In that game Drew Brees, the Saints quarterback, completed 18 passes, threw for 371 yards and five touchdowns, and obtained a perfect quarterback rating. That year the Saints would go onto win the Super Bowl.
The Patriots were victories last time they played the Saints. That game took place in New England in 2013. Tom Brady threw the game winning touchdown pass with nearly no time remaining. The Saints offense played well, but the defense did not. The Saints defense will have to play very well this week.
The defenses for these two teams was not great last week. The Saints played pretty lousy giving up twenty-nine points to the Minnesota Vikings. The Patriots defense played horrible giving up forty-two points to the Kansas City Chiefs. Both teams lost their game. The Saints defense will have to cover former Saints wide receiver Brandon Cooks. He is really fast and agile. If they want to win, the Saints will have to cover Cooks really well. The defenses will have to play better in order to win the game.
This matchup could be the last one between two of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. Drew Brees and Tom Brady are both future Hall of Famers. The first time these quarterbacks played each other was 2002. Drew Brees won with the San Diego Chargers 21-14. Brees has a 3-1 record against Tom Brady and the Patriots. This game on Sunday could be the last time these quarterbacks meet up. Brees will turn 39 in January, Tom Brady is 40. However, both of them have said they want to play into their forties. So, maybe there will be another matchup between these quarterbacks.
Here is my prediction- Patriots defense still struggles some while the Saints defense steps up and plays hard. Tom Brady plays well. However, Drew Brees plays fantastic. Saints win 56-21.
In another article is my score by score prediction of the game.
