The Capitals and the Penguins meet up once again tonight at 6:30 PM CST (7:30 PM EST). In this classic rivalry, several amazing goals and extremely exciting games have taken place. The Capitals are led by their captain and superstar Alex Ovechkin, who recently scored his 600th career goal and will be playing in his 1000th NHL game. On the other side, Sidney Crosby, who is famous for spectacular goals, great plays, and leadership, will lead the two time defending Stanley Cup Champions against one of their most bitter foes. The Capitals and Penguins have both clinched a playoff berth. The Capitals, with a win in regulation during tonight’s game, would also clinch the Metropolitan Division.

Here is my prediction:

1st period

Patrick Hornqvist scores to make it 1-0 Penguins early in the period.

Patrick Hornqvist scores again within the next five to eight minutes. (2-0 Penguins)

Alex Ovechkin scores on a shorthanded breakway late in the period. (2-1 Penguins)

2nd Period

Evgeni Malkin scores within the first two minutes of this period to give the Penguins a 3-1 lead.

Shane Gersich scores his first NHL goal about halfway through the period. (3-2 Penguins)

Less than three minutes after Gersich’s goal, Nikolas Backstrom scores to tie the game at 3.

With about two to three minutes remaining in the period, Alex Ovechkin scores to take a 4-3 lead.

3rd period

Derrick Brassard ties the game at 4 with less than eight minutes remaining in the game.

Evgeny Kuznetsov scores late in the period. (5-4 Capitals)

The Penguins go empty net and Sidney Crosby scores. (5-5)
