Steelers mock draft
1st round, pick 20: CB Deandre Baker, Georgia
Last season, Baker won the Jim Thorpe Award, was a Consensus All-American and caught 2 interceptions returning them for a total of 81-yards. He has also been a 2nd-Team All-SEC in 2017. With Deandre Baker and Joe Haden at cornerback, the Steelers might finally be able to build a great defense for the first time in years.
2nd round, pick 20: WR Hakeem Butler, Iowa State
Last season, QB Ben Roethlisberger threw for over 5000-yards. More than 1000 of them went to WR Antonio Brown who is now an Oakland Raider. In my opinion, nobody could be a better replacement of the huge gap left by Brown than Hakeem Butler. If the Steelers need to trade up in the draft to get him then do it. Butler is a must have playmaker and is a requirement for the Steelers rebuild.
3rd round, pick 2: ILB Mack Wilson Alabama
Mack Wilson is a solid inside linebacker and a low risk selection at this stage in the draft. They can’t afford to have another Jarvis Jones. Wilson will probably be the best fit to replace ILB Ryan Shazier (spine injury) at this point in the draft.
3rd round, pick 20: RB Trayveon Williams Texas A&M
Williams racked up over 2000-yards from scrimmage last season and that about says it all. The reason he’s being picked in the 3rd round is that, according to sources, Williams’ style might not work well in the NFL. Anyway, it’s worth the risk to draft him in one of the middle rounds.
4th round, pick 20: QB Tyree Jackson Buffalo
6’7 QB Tyree Jackson threw for 3131-yards and 28-touchdowns and ran for 136-yards and 7-touchdowns last season. Jackson is a good backup and if Roethlisberger would get injured Jackson could be able to lead the Steelers to a couple of victories.
5th round, pick 3: TE Alizè Mack Notre Dame
The 6’5, 247lbs Alizè Mack caught 36 balls for 360-yards and 3-touchdowns.
6th round, pick 2: LB Christian Miller Alabama
It’s always good to pick up dependable backups, and that’s what the Steelers will get in Christian Miller.
6th round, pick 20: RB Elijah Holyfield Georgia
The Steelers are picking up a late round steal here. Holyfield averaged 6.4-yards per carry and ran for 1018-yards last season. The Steelers already have RB James Conner and picked up RB Trayveon Williams in the third round, so if Holyfield were taken before this pick it wouldn’t devastating. He’s just a player that would be great to have wouldn’t be mandatory.

6th round, pick 35: WR Malik Wilson NC A&T
The Steelers could use a speedy wide receiver like Malik Wilson. Wilson is 5’11 and 166lbs, so he might not be the best at breaking a tackle by J.J. Watt, his main duty would be playing kick returner.
7th round, pick 5: DT Matt Nelson Iowa
The Steelers need another DT so why not pick up the 6’8 Nelson.
