Some Good And a Whole Lot of Bad is the Only Way to Describe Alabama After Winning 65-31 Against Arkansas.

I’ll start with the good news. Alabama scored 65-points and Tua and Jalen both were on the field for a couple of plays, the first was a 5-yard run by Jalen and the second was a 27-yard run also by Jalen Hurts. Also, it sounds like Alabama will try a few more of those plays in the future. Now for the bad news. The defense allowed 31-points to the struggling Arkansas offense and the kicker missed an extra point. Throughout the entire game, Alabama’s defense left receivers uncovered. On one of the drives where Arkansas scored a touchdown, Arkansas quarterback Ty Storey overthrew a sure touchdown. The next play, Ty Storey throws to a receiver who was running the same route as the route on the last play. This time Ty Storey threw the ball correctly and scored a touchdown. 2 back-to-back plays. Both the same routes. Both times the receiver was uncovered. This should not just be blamed on the players. Most of the blame should go to Nick Saban. Saban used to always have the best defense. This year, however, is not the same. Despite being 6-0, Alabama’s defense hasn’t been great. They’re good but not great. One of the few good plays the defense made was a pick-six caught by Shyriem Carter.

Kicker Jospeh Bullovas doesn’t look like he’s getting any better. He missed an extra point this game and had another extra point that he almost missed.

Tua Tagovailoa played great this game. He threw 4 touchdowns and only three incomplete passes. Tua also played wide receiver on Jalen Hurts’ 27-yard run and Tua blocked well on the play. So far this season Tua Tagovailoa has thrown 18 touchdowns and no interceptions. Jalen Hurts has thrown 5 touchdowns and 1 interceptions.

Here is what Coach Saban said about the trick plays with Tua and Jalen.

“We had a few more things that we were going to do out of it, but we didn’t do it,” Saban said. “That’s the way the game went. But I think because of these two guys’ skill set, it could present some problems for defensive teams. That’s why we’re doing it.”

One of the players from Arkansas was overheard shouting “double-pass” on the field. That’s proof that that trick play works. Somebody thought that it was a double-pass and Alabama ended up running the football.
