The NHL Trade Deadline is nearing (February 26th) and the Penguins are finally going in the right direction. Therefore, I don’t see way the Penguins need to trade a lot of good players. I think they should trade for cheaper players instead. Here are the players I want the Penguins to trade for (I will make the trades in a way where all 3 trades can happen).
1. Joel Ward: I know some people probably think I’m crazy for listing him being that he’s on the IR list (Injured Reserved) and Ward is 37 years old, still, I think that the Penguins could use a veteran and a player who is one of the bigger hockey players (6’1, 225 LBs). Here is my prediction for the trade.
The Penguins give a 3rd round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and Matt Hunwick to the Sharks for Joel Ward and a 4th round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
2. Cristoval “Boo” Nieves: Nieves is a young player (24 years old) which would add to the Penguins speed. He’s a decent shooter and he played well with the Michigan Wolverines in College. He would be a good player for the Penguins being that he is in the AHL (the NHL’s minor league) and wouldn’t cost much. Here is my prediction for the trade.
The Penguins give a 2nd round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft to the Rangers for Cristoval “Boo” Nieves and a 5th round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
3. Trevor Daley: Daley used to be a Penguin and won 2 Stanley Cups in his only 2 years with the Penguins and he made a big impact in both seasons. Daley is a Defensive-man and the Penguins could use another Defensive-man. Here is my prediction for the trade.
The Penguins give a 1st round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, the Rangers 5th round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft that they got in the trade above, and a 6th round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft to the Redwings for Trevor Daley and a 1st round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
