The Pittsburgh Penguins entered the game 2-1-2 against the 6-1 Toronto Maple Leafs. The Maples Leafs were, and still are, at the top of the league. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into the game. The Penguins have a great team, but the Maples Leafs looked like they had the better team so far this season. Also, Goaltender Matt Murray was injured and I wasn’t sure when he would come back. Well, Murray came back and he was fine. He stopped all of the Maple Leafs 38 shots.
My 3 stars of the game for the Penguins.
1. Matt Murray: SHUT OUT, 38 saves
Before this game, Toronto hadn’t scored less than 3 goals. In fact, they once had back-to-back 7 goal games. Murray returned from a concussion and shut the Maple Leafs.
2. Evgeni Malkin: 2 goals, 1 assist
Malkin scored the first two goals of the game.
3. Kris Letang: 1 goal, 1 assist
Letang scored the last goal of the game.
