I’m getting sick of the media’s view of the quarterback situation. They have no say in the matter so why don’t they just be quiet about it for a couple of days. This goes for ESPN, CBS Sports, and so many more sports writing companies who pay their writers for doing nothing. ESPN throws away millions of dollars a year paying writers who have no say in anything. I don’t know why they do it. Is it just to annoy people like me who think that a 2-QB system is possible? Maybe. Let’s just say that, if that were true, it wouldn’t suprise me. Tua Tagovailoa played great yesterday and Jalen Hurts didn’t do as well. However, Alabama still has at least 11 games to go. I’m not taking anything away from Tagovailoa, who is one of the best passers a have ever seen, I just wish that all those million dollar sports sites would realize that just because their posts come up high in the search results that still doesn’t take one big thing. Their opinions mean nothing to the outside world. Nothing. I don’t care what sites like ESPN or CBS Sports say. It doesn’t make any difference in my life. The players on the Crimson Tide don’t care and, more importantly, Nick Saban doesn’t care a thing what they say. They don’t make any decisions for any teams, never have never will.
Now that I got that over with, here is my game summary.
Tua Tagovailoa scored 3 touchdowns, 2 passing and 1 rushing. Jalen Hurts led a drive that resulted in a field goal and led another that might have been a touchdown had he not been taking out of the game in favor of Mac Jones which ended in a 27-yard field goal miss by Austin Jones.
The rushing game was very sloppy except for 3 rushing touchdowns by Najee Harris, Tua Tagovailoa and Josh Jacobs.
Alabama had way to many penalties, especially unsportsmanlike conducts.
Alabama’s defense was alright, but it wasn’t like the great Alabama defense I’m used to seeing. They committed a lot of penalties, allowed 2 touchdowns, and allowed too many good plays.
After the game, Nick Saban was asked about what he learned from the game about the quarterback competition and he said “Well, I still like both guys. I think both guys are good players, I think both guys can help our team, all right? So why do you continually try to get me to say something that doesn’t respect one of them? I’m not going to. So quit asking.”
That has got to be one of the best Saban quotes ever. Hopefully that will be the last time that they ask him about the quarterback situation but, unfortunately, I know it’s not. This controversy will be brought a billion more times, each time annoying Saban even more than the time before. My view is, when Saban’s ready to make a decision he’ll make a decision. Until then, as Coach Saban says, “quit asking”.
