Jeff Gorton, General Manager of the New York Ramgers and adviser on the US National Team board, announced today in an interview that Chris Kreider, and alternate for the Rangers, will play for the United States National Team in the coming International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championships. He also said that other Rangers, including Lias Andersson, Filip Chytil, and Mika Zibanejad, were asked to play for Team Sweden. Last year Henrik Lundqvist led Team Sweden to the gold medal in Cologne, Germany.
Chris Kreider has played for Team USA in two World Junior Championships. Kreider one gold with the US in 2010 and bronze in 2011 at the World Junior Championships.
UPDATE: Mika Zibanejad will play for Team Sweden.
