LSU vs Alabama is a classic rivalry. They always have close games. The reason why they are close is because both teams are naturally sloppy in those games. This year, Alabama has the good offense and LSU has the good defense. LSU makes so many mistakes on offense it’s disgusting. Alabama actually has a very good offense. I’m not writing this to rat poison Alabama. In fact, Alabama’s defense hasn’t been good this year. Still, they aren’t horrible. They’re just less than mediocre for the type of defense you would expect from a team coached by Nick Saban.
LSU offense: How Alabama can stop them.
LSU’s offense is pathetic to put it nicely. LSU has had so much success this year because of their defense and special teams. I will give no credit to their offense. Why? Because they don’t deserve any. Joe Burrow isn’t great. In fact, he isn’t even good. Still, I might be misjudging him. I mean, he doesn’t throw well, but when he does his receivers drop the pass, so, it’s hard to judge. LSU’s best player on offense is Running Back Nick Brossette. Brossette is a player who is consistently good, unlike the rest of LSU’s offense. Brossette has ran for 10-touchdowns this year. He also scored the only touchdown in the LSU-Mississippi State game.
Alabama’s defense needs to put pressure on Joe Burrow. Alabama should run some safety blitz and make it hard for Joe Burrow to even move. If Alabama can shut down the passing game then LSU’s forced to run. Alabama is better at stopping the run anyway, so that might give Alabama the advantage. Basically, Alabama needs to have so many guys blitzing that Joe Burrow barely even has time to hand off the football. And even if he does hand it off, Alabama will already be on top of Brossette.
How LSU can get around Alabama’s defense.
This mainly depends on if LSU’s offensive line. Joe Burrow plays very bad when he has to make quick decisions. That’s basically why LSU lost to Florida. Florida put pressure on Burrow and forced him to make very fast decisions and to throw under pressure. Burrow was unable make the right decisions and throw the ball well under that kind of pressure. Burrow threw 2 interceptions very late in the game because of the pressure they put on him and LSU lost because of that. If LSU can stop Alabama’s blitzes, then Joe Burrow will have a ton of time to throw and Nick Brossette will have more room to run. If LSU can stop the blitzes, then they just knocked off a huge part of Alabama’s game.
Alabama offense: How LSU can stop them.
Alabama has scored a touchdown on their first possession of every game so far this season. Tua Tagovailoa has played really well this season and Alabama has a great receiving group this year. Also, Tua has thrown 25-touchdowns and no interceptions this season and he is on track to break a lot of records. Running Back Josh Jacobs has been playing well this year and has scored 8 touchdowns so far. The main thing that could stop Alabama a little bit is injuries. Tagovailoa’s knee isn’t 100%, at least the last time that I checked it wasn’t, and Alabama’s other quarterback, Jalen Hurts, who used to be the starter, got a high ankle sprain from last game against Tennessee, still, he may be able to play. Jalen Hurts has played in every game so far this season and he has played well in most of them. Hurts has thrown 5 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and ran for 1 touchdown. If LSU wants to win, they will have to get to Tua. They need to put pressure on Tua and force bad throws.
How Alabama can get around LSU’s defense
This depends a lot on the running game. If Josh Jacobs and Damien Harris can get a couple good runs and if Hurts is able to play and run the football a few times, that would be great for Alabama. If Alabama’s line can give Tua time to throw, the Alabama will be very hard to stop.
If Alabama wins then the will clinch the SEC West. My prediction is that Alabama will win 27-14.
