Alabama Crimson Tide Offseason Series Part I: What to do With Jalen Hurts/Tua Tagovailoa.

From now until Alabama’s first game I will publish at least 5 parts to my new series of articles that will give you my opinion on different things about Alabama and how I think they’ll do during the season. Now for my first topic, Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa. As you probably know, Jalen Hurts lead Alabama to this year’s CFP Championship and Tua Tagovailoa was put into the game at the being of the second half, since Jalen Hurts was benched, while Alabama was losing 13-0. Tagovailoa led Alabama to a victory, and threw the game winning touchdown pass to Wide Receiver Devonta Smith, vs Georgia in overtime to win the CFP Championship 26-23. Both Quarterbacks run well, though Jalen Hurts runs more, and both Quarterbacks can throw amazingly, but Tua Tagovailoa throws more. Just to keep Jalen Hurts haters informed about how much he is worth to Alabama here’s a list of statistics that compares Jalen Hurts with the rest of the team.

2016 overall season (playoffs and championship included).

Jalen Hurts total Touchdowns: 36

Non-Jalen Hurts total Offensive Touchdowns: 20

Jalen Hurts total yards: 3734

Non-Jalen Hurts Offensive total yards Alabama total yards: 3130

2017 overall season (playoffs and championship included).

Jalen Hurts total Touchdowns: 25

Non-Jalen Hurts total Offensive Touchdowns: 39

Jalen Hurts total yards: 2936

Non-Jalen Hurts Offensive total yards Alabama total yards: 3328

2016 overall season (playoffs and championship included).

Of course, Jalen Hurts had more yards in his freshman season than in his sophomore season because when he was a freshman he played the whole game of every game, except for his first ever game when he split time with Blake Barnett, when he was a sophomore Tua Tagovailoa would come in the game when ever Alabama was winning by a lot and in the CFP Championship. Since Alabama has 2 good Quarterbacks, I don’t see why one of them would transfer or change positions. I think that both Quarterbacks should get equal amount of time and that maybe on some plays both Hurts and Tagovailoa would both be on the field. I don’t think that Nick Saban would just let either QB walk out or change their position when they are both great Quarterbacks.
